1939: World War II propaganda.

1941: The worlds’ first TV commercial airs on Bulova Watch.

1950: The first political advertisement airs.

1957: The first TV jingle airs for Mr Clean, which is still used today.

1970: TV infomercials begin.

1980: Calvin Klein sparks controversy with Brooke Shields starring in a ‘sexy’ commercial.

1981: MTV launches, advertising music 24/7

1994: Hotwire website launches, and banner ads begin.

1995 – 2000: $8.2 billion invested in online ads.

2002: Apple releases their silhouette ad. 

2008: Ads come to social media.
